Privacy Policy

Last updated: April 2026

Who we are

BC Step Code Guide operates the website bcstepcode.ca. We are an independent educational resource based in Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada. This privacy policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information when you visit our site.

If you have questions about this policy, contact us at [email protected].

What data we collect

We do not collect personal information directly through this website. There are no user accounts, login systems, or registration forms on bcstepcode.ca.

The data we do collect falls into two categories:

Analytics data (automatic)

When you visit our site, Google Analytics collects anonymous usage data including:

  • Pages visited and time spent on each page
  • Referring website or search engine
  • Browser type, device type, and screen resolution
  • General geographic location (city/region level, not precise)
  • Language preference

This data is aggregated and cannot be used to identify you personally.

Form submissions

Our quote and contact forms are processed on our own infrastructure. When you submit one, the details you enter (name, company, email, phone, project city, build stage, and your message) are sent to our server, stored in our customer relationship management system, and used by Okanagan AeroBarrier to respond to your enquiry. A copy is also emailed to us through Resend, an email delivery service.

Our newsletter signup is handled separately by Formspree, a third-party form handling service. If you submit your email address there, it is sent to Formspree and forwarded to us.

We do not sell your information or use it for anything other than responding to you.

Cookies and tracking

Our site uses cookies from the following third-party services:

Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to understand how visitors use our site. GA4 sets cookies to distinguish unique visitors and track session information. Google Analytics data is processed by Google LLC under their privacy policy. We have IP anonymization enabled.

Google AdSense

We display advertisements through Google AdSense. AdSense uses cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this site and other websites. Google and its advertising partners may collect and use data to personalize ads. You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings or aboutads.info.

Managing cookies

You can control and delete cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to block or remove cookies. Note that disabling cookies may affect the functionality of some website features.

Third-party services

Our site relies on the following third-party services:

  • Google Analytics (analytics and traffic measurement)
  • Google AdSense (display advertising)
  • Formspree (newsletter signup processing)
  • Supabase (database hosting for quote and contact enquiries)
  • Resend (email delivery for enquiry notifications)
  • Cloudflare (hosting, CDN, and security)
  • Google Fonts (web typography)

Each of these services has their own privacy policy governing how they handle data. We encourage you to review their policies if you have concerns.

Data retention

Google Analytics data is retained for 14 months, after which it is automatically deleted. We do not maintain separate databases of general visitor information.

Quote and contact enquiries are kept in our customer relationship management system for as long as needed to respond and to service the work you asked about. Newsletter signups forwarded to us via Formspree are kept until you ask to be removed. To have your details deleted, email [email protected].

Your rights under PIPEDA

As a Canadian website, we comply with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). Under PIPEDA, you have the right to:

  • Know what personal information we hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate information
  • Withdraw consent for the collection or use of your information
  • File a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada

In practice, because we do not collect or store personal information directly, there is very little data for us to disclose or correct. If you have submitted a contact form and want your message deleted, contact us and we will remove it promptly.

Children's privacy

Our site is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. Continued use of the site after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
